As America's number-one sake company, Takara Sake USA is more than an imported sake store — we're our own national product of unique American sake that’s combined with Japanese tradition. Established in 1983 in Berkeley, California, we’ve brought centuries-old experience, knowledge and tried-and-true tradition from Japan, using it to develop our own American production method. Today, we pride ourselves on blending an ancient tradition with progressive, modern technology. The result is the highest degree of quality and success in our original sake.

While high-quality premium Junmai sake is our key focus, we also produce original flavored sakemirin (gourmet seasoning sake)plum wine and malt beverages such as J POP. Additionally, we import carefully selected Junmai sake and Shochu (distilled spirits) from Japan. What’s more, we are a prominent source of industrial scale sake and mirin in America, as well. Our imported sake website is an excellent place to learn about and purchase the various products we offer.

Brands: MIO Sparkling Sake is a sensational drink made from rice and rice koji. This smooth, easy drinking, low alcohol sake goes perfectly with various types of cuisines.

MIO is a festive, sparkling sake, bright with aromas of peach, ripe persimmon, freesia, and fresh bread....

  • MIO is made entirely from rice and koji rice and contains no flavoring agents or sweeteners. The sake's 5% alcohol content makes it great for casual enjoyment. We recommend chilling MIO between 32°F and 41°F. MIO takes on a clearer taste as it nears 32°F, and the sweetness from rice expands at around 41°F. You can chill the glass to further enhance the taste.

Since going on sale in June 2011, MIO now holds an overwhelming share of the sparkling sake market. Simply put, it's number one in the world. The name MIO, refers to the flow of shallow water and the foam formed from a passing ship. The shallowness and foam are metaphors for the low alcohol contents and carbonation respectively, and the name represents our desire to create a new path for sake. In addition, MIO means "mine" in Italian, so even for those who are new to sake, we hope they can enjoy having their very own sake time with MIO

While enjoying MIO can be a great daily routine to treat yourself, MIO is also a wonderful companion for parties, outdoor recreation, and various other situations. Likewise, MIO's natural sweetness and pleasant acidity make it perfect for cocktails. We hope you will incorporate MIO into all your special occasions.
