How do I keep my retail shelves and wholesale customers in stock when I can't find or keep production employees?
How do I increase my production without adding more space?
Archytas Automation and QuantumPak have joined forces to answer these questions. The Archytas engineers have put their brain power to work in support of Dave McGurk, a packaging industry veteran and who along with Allen Muresan started QuantumPak.
"Since launching QuantumPak with our line of band sealers, I have consistetnly been hearing from roasteries about the labor shortages they are dealing with", said McGurk. "I invited Archytas to help me solve this problem and it is exciting to be providing coffee roasters of all sizes with options to solve this problem."
Karen Caswelch, one of the founders of Archytas was present at Coffee Fest Portland show and had this to say about her company's work with Quantum Pak. Caswelch stated, "It was easy to get our engineers plugged into this project because they all love coffee! The Future of Coffee Packaging has been a great project for our company and we look forward to continue improving it through roastery feedback."
The total system will label, fill, and seal coffee bags ranging in size from 12 oz to 32 oz. In one 8 hour shift, the system can deliver between 2,000 and 4,000 bags. it is modular meaning you can pick and choose the entire system or one or two components. It is also flexible so that it can be easily moved around a roastery and adapted as growth and activity demands.
Archytas is working with a handful of initial customers to convert the lab version of the system into a roastery proven system. The company expects to installing the automated packaging system in roasteries across the US beginning in March 2022.
