Lindsey Mfg. Co, recognized  as an expert in the transmission and distribution industry. Over the years  Lindsey has developed  several products including an underground power supply, accurate current & voltage sensors for  smart overhead and underground distribution systems. Recently  it introduced a transmission sensor that measures the height of the conductor above ground under any loading condition.

 Products

  • High Accuracy Line Sensors
NEW High Accuracy GEN2 sensors now offer 0.2% voltage accuracy, from -50/+55C; the industry's best. Ideal for optimizing the financial return on CVR/VVO capacitor projects....

  • High Accuracy SensorsTM offer 0.2% accuracy from –50/+55°C; the industry’s best.

These sensors are ideal for feeder voltage control based on Volt/VAR Optimization (VVO) or conservation voltage reduction (CVR) applications, which rely on accurate voltage measurements. Greater accuracy allows for finer control of the voltage profile and maximizes the economic benefit which can be realized by these programs.

Current sensing circuits provide an accurate (1%) voltage output proportional to the primary current. The current signal output of GEN2 sensors is linear with input current, making them ideal to accurately represent fault current magnitudes.

Available up to 35kV, high accuracy GEN2 sensors are completely passive designs. No external power source is required to power sensor electronics.

All GEN2 sensors are also available in 0.5% standard voltage accuracy.

  • FIREBird Wildfire Detection System
The FIREBird system by Lindsey FireSense is designed specifically to detect and report very small wildfires along utility rights-of-way, typically in less than 2 minutes. Rapid detection results in faster fire response and smaller fires to contain....

  • Respond to Small Fires While Easy to Contain

When placed at regular intervals, FIREBird devices provide continuous wildfire detection along rights-of-way or easements like those associated with electric utility lines and roadways, or for wildfires that start near wildland-urban interfaces where neighborhoods adjoin fuel-rich wildlands.

The unique risks associated with rights-of-way and wildland–urban interfaces call for defensive fire detection methods that can sense fires almost immediately after ignition. Such detection maximizes the available response time ensuring firefighting resources arrive to the smallest possible fire and helping to prevent massive devastation.

Optimized to Quickly Detect Small Wildfires

The FIREBird system is specifically designed to detect very small (3’x3’) fires across a discrete area. When regularly placed along critical boundaries, the system provides continuous fire detection along that path. The FIREBird system is ideal for any arbitrary property border.

Small fire detection is provided over the contiguous 17-acre area surrounding a FIREBird device. Larger fires can be detected out to 1/2 mile or more, depending upon terrain.  Uniform protection across larger land areas is as simple as deploying additional FIREBird devices.

FIREBird devices are also capable of detecting and reporting on multiple, simultaneous fires within their zone of coverage.

  • Metering Accuracy Underground Voltage Sensors
ElbowSense™ voltage sensors are now available in a 0.3% metering accuracy version. ElbowSense voltage sensors are available in standard IEEE Std 386 200A elbow and tee-body configurations, and as a voltage plug for 600A cable installations....

  • Lindsey Systems’ ElbowSense voltage sensors have been used by utilities for over 20 years to provide accurate voltage measurements in pad-mount, metal clad, and submersible underground applications.  The introduction of a 0.3% accuracy version of these sensors expands on their versatility, allowing for their use in metering applications. The higher accuracy provides enhanced benefits when used in renewable energy, Volt/Var, and protective relaying applications.

All Lindsey Systems’ ElbowSense sensors are available with connectors or cast-in cables. The standard 0.5% accuracy version of the sensors is also available.
