Monarch 2 is a single-chip LTE-M and NB-IoT solution designed specifically for narrowband IoT applications, including sensors, wearables, and other low data, low power M2M and IoT devices. Monarch 2 is built on three years of Sequans’ exclusive and field-proven experience with Monarch, which is and has been the industry’s leading LTE for IoT chip since its introduction in 2016. Monarch 2 builds on the success of first-generation Monarch and incorporates full reuse of Monarch’s software and architecture, allowing all existing customers to migrate to Monarch 2 seamlessly. Monarch 2 brings several significant advancements, including an integrated Secure Enclave (SE) with the industry’s highest level of security, enabling a variety of integrated SIMs, a 60-percent improvement in power consumption, beating the already industry-lowest level of Monarch, and an industry-leading high level of integration that further simplifies and lowers the cost of IoT device design.

Monarch 2 GM02S is an LTE Cat M1/NB1/NB2 module based on Sequans’ second generation Monarch 2 chip platform. It provides significant improvements in performance and power consumption while providing seamless migration because it is based on Sequans’ existing LTE-M/NB-IoT protocol stack---one of the most mature and proven in the entire LTE ecosystem. Monarch 2 GM02S is the first member of Sequans next generation “S” series module family, featuring a very small yet cost-effective form factor that requires no external components. Monarch 2 GM02S includes Sequans’ Single-SKU™ RF front end, enabling deployment in any band worldwide, and an integrated EAL5+ secure enclave, enabling secure key storage and crypto applications and integrated SIM (iSIM). A low-power application MCU allows customers to port their own code into the module via a feature rich SDK. Monarch 2 GM02S utilizes a single rail power supply starting at 2.2 V, the lowest voltage supported by any LTE-M/NB-IoT module in the industry today, thereby unlocking battery and eBOM savings. Sequans designs and owns the chipsets and software used in all its modules, thus ensuring fast time to market and lowest total cost of ownership for device makers.

The Calliope 2 GC02S1 modules are based on Sequans’ second-generation Calliope 2 chip and deliver optimized 4G LTE Cat 1 connectivity for IoT, M2M and consumer devices such as wearables and hearables that require support for voice and speed higher than LTE-M. Calliope 2 provides significant improvements in performance and power consumption over Calliope 1, while providing seamless migration because it is based on Sequans’ existing 4G LTE protocol stack, one of the most mature and proven in the entire LTE ecosystem. The Calliope 2 GC02S1 modules comprise Sequans Calliope 2 platform and all other elements for a complete modem system, including an LTE-optimized transceiver, RF front end, and key interfaces in a compact, cost-effective form factor that requires no external components and includes an integrated EAL5+ secure enclave, enabling secure key storage, crypto applications, and integrated SIM (iSIM). Calliope 2 GC02S1 modules are optimized to support three regional variants covering North America, Japan, and Europe.
