Ben Bodishbaugh, Co-Founder

Ben has found his greatest successes come through the building of organizations, taking ideas from their infancy and developing them into mature enterprises. Ben’s value in an organization stems from his creative ability to solve any problem by leveraging his commonsense approach, blended with his engineering acumen. He is passionate about bridging gaps between industries to create differentiation that drives efficiency and fuels profitability. Prior to co-founding ICE Thermal Harvesting, Ben served as the Chief Executive Officer of Evolution Well Services where he led the development a revolutionary hydraulic fracturing technology that greatly reduced emissions by leveraging a novel power source. As the original employee of this Texas based company, Ben built a team of personnel from various industrial, multi-industry backgrounds, and guided them to create this unique, environmentally friendly platform which has experienced great commercial success.

Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University.
He is the proud father of four children. In his spare time, Ben enjoys competitive running, live music, the outdoors, and travel.

Rob Bordenave, VP - External Engagement

Rob began his career with Schlumberger and advanced from Field Engineer to Operations Manager in locations throughout Texas and the GOM. Prior to joining ICE Thermal Harvesting, Rob worked for Occidental Petroleum, and subsequently California Resource Corporation, in various roles including Drilling Manager, Asset Development Lead, and Regulatory Manager. During his time leading the company’s regulatory efforts in California, Rob developed an interest in repurposing idle and abandoned assets to aid in the ongoing energy transition.

Rob received his bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. In his free time, Rob enjoys backpacking, fly fishing, family RV trips, and watching his three children play soccer.

Brian Watts, Commercial Technology Manager

Brian’s curiosity and passion for business started early in his career. Before joining ICE Thermal Harvesting, Brian was Director of Project Development at Charger Energy services, serving clients in Texas and Oklahoma. The foundation of Brian’s career began with project management and project engineering at SNC-Lavalin where he executed projects in three languages throughout the western hemisphere. Beginning in Brazil, he was a part of the nation’s first private development of an onshore gas facility. In Colombia, he supported a multinational company expand their processing capacity in record time. Brian also assisted a publicly traded company stake their claim in the Bakken region of North Dakota.

Brian holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. Outside of the office, Brian enjoys golfing, travelling, and spending time with his family.

Carl Gutierrez, Mechanical Designer

With nearly two decades of experience in the world of mechanical design, Carl Gutierrez is a seasoned pro. He’s the mastermind behind the CAD screen, shaping ideas into tangible, functional creations. Carl’s toolkit is extensive, featuring AutoCAD, Pro/Engineer, Creo, SolidWorks, and the innovative OnShape. He’s a versatile problem-solver who’s left his mark in diverse industries, from oil and gas to consumer electronics, aerospace, and industrial water treatment.

But Carl isn’t just about pixels and prototypes. He’s a hands-on enthusiast who thrives on learning from YouTube tutorials and getting down and dirty with DIY projects. From woodworking to auto repairs, he’s a true jack-of-all-trades. At home, Carl shares his life with a loving wife and three wonderful kids, plus their loyal canine companion. As a proud native of Houston, he’s got a heart as big as Texas and a mind that never stops innovating.

Nala, Office Manager

A native of Missouri, Nala briefly attended college in Northwest Arkansas majoring in Veterinary Sciences before relocating to start her career with ICE. Nala is responsible for reception services and managing inventory of the break room. She is also responsible for routinely checking the automation lab for timely food opportunities.

Nala considers herself a dependable and alert employee who keeps a diligent eye on all people and packages arriving at the ICE facility. She has a great desire to get involved with all the functions within the business.

In her spare time, Nala enjoys snacking, walking vigorously and napping.

Carrie Murtland, Co-Founder

Carrie is ever intrigued by challenges of all shapes and sizes.  Inspired by nature, she is passionate about creating a vision for the future and building transformative teams to bring those visions to life.

Prior to co-founding ICE Thermal Harvesting, Carrie served as the Chief Operating Officer for Evolution Well Services where she developed strategic plans and teams around digital technology, operational transformation, engineering & construction, and sales & marketing.  Carrie led successful multi-year contract negotiations, implemented a digital technology program, and developed and led the company’s strategic planning process. Early in her career Carrie worked as a process engineer for EPC firm AMEC Paragon, designing greenfield topsides production facilities for offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.  She then worked for the multi-national Weir Group in various functions including engineering, product management, and sales & service management, focusing on both domestic and international energy markets.

Carrie attended Michigan Technological University, where she earned bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with a minor in alternative energy enterprise. Carrie also holds a Certificate of Business Management from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Carrie is also defined as a wife and working mother to two children for whom she strives to create a better world.  In her spare time, she enjoys all things outdoors with her family.

Casey Kelver, Operations Manager

Casey spent his early working years in the Houston road construction industry and working the family ranch, where he developed a strong foundation of work ethic. He then served our country, honing his leadership skills as a Sergeant in the Army, where he completed deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. After serving his country, Casey joined FMC where he was responsible for subsea well interventions. In this role, Casey worked offshore in Norway, the US, and Australia.

Casey earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and also holds an MBA from Texas A&M. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, four-wheeling, and traveling with his wife and two daughters.

Dennis Bell, Automation Manager

Dennis is currently meeting the challenges of today’s automation systems evolving from traditional SCADA systems to Operational Technology (OT), the Internet of Things (IOT), and Industrial Cyber Security (ICS) in virtualized environments, ensuring platform independence and rapid recovery in a secure environment.

Dennis has been involved with automation and SCADA systems since their early adoption in the chemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, and food industries. Prior to joining ICE Thermal Harvesting, he held the position of Vice President of Engineering at Universal Pegasus International. Before that, Dennis worked in Automation for El Paso, IDM, and Northern Natural Gas. Additionally, he owned and operated a systems integration firm for over 20 years. Dennis began his career in automation with an OEM, where he was instrumental in developing one of the first microcontroller-based control systems for batching and loss-in-weight systems used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

In his spare time, Dennis enjoys volunteering as a Master Gardener, pursuing woodworking projects, fishing, and attending lodge meetings.

Matt Curry, VP - Business Development

A native of the Pittsburgh area, Matt has had the good fortune to be on the teams that developed both the Barnett Shale (Mitchell Energy) and the Marcellus Shale (Range Resources) in their infancies. His career in oil & gas extends from coordinating and directing all facets of shale development to overseeing the marketing of natural gas liquids internationally, including the very first ethane export from the US and the first condensate oil export off the US East Coast. As an entrepreneur, Matt has helmed companies in shale pumping services and in developing concepts for mobile power applications which extend beyond shale development.

Matt has a chemical engineering degree from Penn State and an MBA from SMU. He has also completed courses in executive leadership and petroleum engineering fundamentals at Stanford and the University of Tulsa, respectively.

To attempt to keep up with the frenetic energy of three kids and two dogs, Matt has taken up distance running and the occasional pickup soccer game. Camping is part of the family culture, and Matt is always open to trading recipes that involve cooking over an open fire.
