Company Information -- Who We Are
A P Ventures, LLC (APV) is a training and information techology company located in Columbia, Maryland, founded in 2007. We are a few minute's drive from the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Academy in nearby Emmitsburg, Maryland. Our corporate Quality Management System is certified at Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), a process level improvement program administered by the CMMI Institute.
Product and Project Background - What We Are Doing and Have Done
APV has a 5-year contract to provide web-based firefighter certification and familiarization training in support of the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center's (AFCEC) Fire Emergency Services (FES) division at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. AFCEC FES has the mission to develop, maintain and administer an accredited certification program that supports all Department of Defense (DoD)-level emergency responders. A key component of this support is to provide personnel responsible for fighting fires on USAF aircraft and at USAF facilities with effective training and real-time performance support tools. APV also has created web-based training as a prime contractor in support of FEMA's National Fire Academy.
The APV Solution
APV’s seasoned in-house instructional design staff work with firefighting Subject Matter Experts and use a tailored version of the Assess, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate (ADDIE) approach to design, develop, deploy and maintain distance learning courseware. Our approach to ADDIE integrates features and best practices of Agile software development, enabling and ensuring customer involvement throughout the course design process. APV conducted a needs assessment and content analysis to determine gaps between competencies and training objectives. Currently, APV is updating or developing over 40 courses to make them more interactive and engaging. Our courseware features Level 2 interactivity with knowledge checks, challenge reviews, and course completion exams. All courses are part of the DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System.
