The FETS tool simulates a typical storefront, complete with the locking mechanisms most frequently encountered by firefighters in real world scenarios. Participants are then able to actually pull the locking cylinder with their own equipment and defeat the revealed lock by manipulating the diverse locking mechanisms with a pick-tool. Firefighters experience firsthand how to use a "K', "A" or Officer's tool, a flat-headed ax and a halligan, or even hydraulic tools such as a "Rabbit' tool, Hydra-Ram or Port-A-Power. These tools are seldom used in training because they generally cause significant destruction. Most forcible entry training exercises consist of only one opportunity to open a lock or a door, therefore making it difficult for every firefighter to have a chance to familiarize themselves with the procedure. The FETS Tool's unique construction allows for hundreds of forcible entry opportunities with no damage to the prop.
The main portion of the mechanism is actually a mini revolving metal door that is housed in a metal frame and stands upright on a solid wood base. It displays all the inner workings of the locks most commonly in use today in schools, public buildings, storefronts and homes. The door swivels a full 360 degrees and enables all of its details to be easily demonstrated.
The practice rail portion ofthe equipment is used in conjunction with standard forcible entry tools and allows participants to practice removal of the lock cylinder. The extraction of the lock cylinder is the first step to gaining entry without damaging the door using the through-the-lock method. The rail is designed to enable firefighters to feel the actual resistance of the removal of a lock cylinder. The practice rail is reusable through the use of our special Break-Away Lock seal. A clear replaceable lucite strip securely holds the locking mechanism in place and breaks away when force to the cylinder is applied by the proper tools. In just seconds, the rail is ready to be used again. Imagine, your entire department can practice again and again with our hands-on reusable FETS Station.
