Based on the Firefighting Training Video Series, Brass Tacks Hard Facts by Elkhart Brass, there will be live, in-person classes taught at this location by the Brass Tacks Instructor Cadre. The lineup of classes is as follows and details when you can expect to find the team on site. Each session is limited to 30 attendees who must pre-register with FDIC. Thursday, April 18, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm The Attack Package: Hose Bundles and Weapon Selection taught by Brian Brush & Curt Isakson In this session, based on the insights from the Brass Tacks & Hard Facts training video series, Brian Brush and Curt Isakson will join forces to delve into modern attack packages. Participants will be actively involved in hands-on demonstrations, learning to deploy and construct 1-3/4” attack bundles effectively. The session will further provide an in-depth Weapon Selection overview, highlighting various handline nozzle types, their practical applications, emerging trends, and their relevance in the context of today’s fireground. Friday, April 19, 10:00 am – 11:00 am Standpipe Hook Ups with the Denver Hose Pack taught by Daryl Liggins & Steve Robertson Drawing upon the expertise shared in the Brass Tacks & Hard Facts training video series, Daryl Liggins and Steve Robertson will come together in this session to provide an in-depth exploration of the Denver Righ-Rise Hose Pack and standpipe hook up techniques. It will feature interactive, hands-on demonstrations, where participants will not only learn how to deploy and construct the Denver Hose Pack but also understand its benefits in high-rise operations. Additionally, the session will offer a comprehensive overview of standpipe hook ups, covering essential topics such as the contents of a standpipe kit, sizing up valves, and strategies for navigating common challenges. Saturday, April 20, 10:00 am – 11:00 am Standpipe Hook Ups with the New York Fold taught by Ray McCormack & Jerry Herbst Leveraging the knowledge from the Brass Tacks & Hard Facts training video series, Ray McCormack and Jerry Herbst will unite to provide a thorough examination of the New York Fold High-Rise Pack and Standpipe Hook Up techniques in this session. Participants will be immersed in interactive demonstrations, gaining firsthand experience in deploying and assembling the New York Fold, while also learning about its advantages for high-rise fire operations. Moreover, this session will deliver a detailed review of standpipe hook ups, addressing critical elements such as what to include in your standpipe kit, sizing up valves, and effective methods to address common obstacles.
