  • WHAT IT DOES
The Maxbolt™ Load Indicating Fastener continuously measures the amount of load applied to the fastener and displays it as a percentage of yield within +/- 5% accuracy. This offers a simple method to reach accurate preload during installation and monitor clamp load that continually displays at the end of the Maxbolt™ fastener while in service.  The Maxbolt provides in-service monitoring, which warns users of any loosening to avoid premature wear, unnecessary downtime, or catastrophic failure. The increased ability of the user aids in maintaining the integrity of the bolted joint across many industrial applications.

    HOW IT WORKS
The Maxbolt is manufactured or retrofitted by inserting extremely accurate, durable and intrinsically safe load monitoring devices into custom or standard fastener. Existing tightening tools and methods are used to install the Maxbolt while continuously displaying the load easily visible to the installer or quality control inspector. Custom scales can show desired operating ranges using a green zone or pinpoint precise clamp load values.

    QUALITY STANDARDS
The Maxbolt Load Indicating Fastener is designed and manufactured under strict quality requirements and is compliant with ASTM F-2482. This standard requires a fastener to be capable of indicating clamping forces up to yield strength during the tightening process or post installation residual tension, or both and must have +/- 5% accuracy.
Valley Forge & Bolt is ISO 9001:2015 and Lloyd’s Register: Type Approval Certified.

  • SPC4 Load Indicating System
The SPC4™ Load Indicating System allows users to constantly monitor the clamp load of any SPC4 bolted joint, whether static or dynamic, within +/-5% accuracy of the required preload or clamp load....

  • WHAT IT DOES
The SPC4™ Load Indicating System allows users to constantly monitor the clamp load of any SPC4 bolted joint, whether static or dynamic.  This fastener improves the ability of the tightening tool and user to accurately install and monitor tension.  The SPC4 system reduces the inaccuracies of bolting methods by enabling users to install a bolted joint within +/-5% accuracy of the required preload or clamp load.  This sytem offers maximum joint integrity with optimum performance across many industrial applications.

    HOW IT WORKS
The SPC4 Load Indicating System includes a standard or custom fastener manufactured or retrofitted to specific customer requirements. The fastener is then modified with a datum disc compatible to any Valley Forge supplied reader with analog, digital or WiFi output. Existing tightening tools and methods are used to install the SPC4 fastener, with the ability to read and monitor clamp load by easily attaching the probe from the universal reader to the datum disc.

    QUALITY STANDARDS
The system is designed and manufactured under strict quality requirements and is compliant with ASTM F-2482. This requires a fastener capable of indicating clamping forces up to yield strength during the tightening process or post installation residual tension, or both and must have +/- 5% accuracy.

In many industrial applications, most bolted joint failures occur due to improper installation when trying to achieve the required clamp load.  There are many factors that attribute to bolted joint failures which may not be visible during installation.  However, if the bolt tension could be monitored on each fastener during installation, this would not eliminate the contributing factors, but it would show which fasteners are tensioned properly and identify those that are not.  Those fasteners that have not received the proper bolt tension have a direct negative impact on the clamp load and integrity of the bolted joint during operation.

  • Ball Lock Washer
The Ball Lock washer is a unique, patented system which eliminates the need for a back-up wrench....

  • WHAT IT DOES
The Ball Lock washer is a unique, patented system which eliminates the need for a back-up wrench. The use of back up wrenches accounts for a significant amount of lost time accidents in any industrial bolted joint setting. This technology dramatically reduces assembly time and eliminates the safety hazards associated with back up wrenches.

    HOW IT WORKS
The Ball Lock washer is a hardened washer with hardened steel ball bearings that embed and grip into the flange face and nut bearing surfaces. This mechanical lock begins to occur during the hand tightening stage and is main-tained throughout the tightening process. This unique system works both when tightening and loosening. It can be used under the nut, when tightening the head, or used under the head, when tightening the nut.

    QUALITY STANDARDS
The Ball Lock Washer is designed and manufactured under strict quality requirements, compliant with ASTM F436.
