The Comtech COMET™ (Compact Over-the-Horizon Mobile Expeditionary Terminal) has an operational configuration weight of only 56 lbs, allowing it to be airline checked, automobile transported, and carried into the field while retaining low commercial power requirements. Depending on terrain, the COMET™ is capable of establishing Line-of-Sight (LOS), Obstructed Line-of-Sight (OLOS), and Beyond Line-of-Sight (BLOS) links up to, and above, 60 km at data rates of 5 to 60 Mbps. Designed using the industry leading CS67PLUS troposcatter radio, the Comtech COMET™ can operate single stream from 946 kbps to 105 Mbps or dual stream from 1.9 to 210 Mbps (actual throughput based on terrain). Capable of augmenting existing communications with plug-and-play L2 connectivity and support of low-latency time-sensitive services. Inherent design characteristics decrease the probability of detection and intercept. With Comtech’s standard 1 m antenna, the Comtech COMET™ can be setup by one person in as little as 15 minutes.
